what questions should i ask my doctor? ........ those in need a prayer

a teenage young lady that was recently diagnosed with scoliosis has been asking people about the surgery. she describe the surgery as using 3 rods to support her spine.
2 weeks in the hospital and she is wondering about the long term affects.
'what will i be like in 10 years?'
'what questions should i ask the doctor on my next visit?'

Hello Hiirim,

My name is Leo and I used to suffer from scoliosis. I had a really bad curvature that my hip was tiltled to compensate for my curvature. since my hip was tilted it made my right leg 1 inch shorter than the other leg. I was also diagnosed when i was 15, and i am 17 at the moment. this was around 2 years ago.

The doctors said there were only two opions for me was either operate my spine and fix the curve and hope it balanced my legs, and hope the operation went well since they told me that there was a chance i could walk away a vegtable for my whole life.

Or the other option as to operate my leg and cut my Fibula and tibula so i wouldn't limp anymore. because the limping was very bad and i couldn't walk or run much without hurting very bad.

I met this doctor, through relatives, and they told me she greatly frowned upon operation because of the chance of being disabled and because it had a down time of 1 year.

well in short, today i dont have scoliosis anymore, and i do have the x-rays and doctor that support all i have said, and today i dont limp anymore, i can run =], and i dont have the curvature anymore.
And i know this is very skeptacle to believe and understand, but i was cured in a month. i went to 15 sessions with the Doctor and walked out with a new life. i didnt have no down time, and she even advised me to keep active during the treatment to see how i progressed. i am very pleased and glad because, well i dont have scoliosis anymore and needed operation. yes NO operation.

Please call me at my home at 951-898-1628 or cell at 951-427-0272

i know u care for your niece and hope she gets better. and well i am living proof that there is no need for rods, fusion, braces, or operations to get rid of scoliosis completely.
I dont know you or your niece, but i surely do know that operation isnt the only answer and i just hope you call me, do it for your niece =].

Best Wishes for you and your niece,
-Leo

It surely does.
And well thank to God i am healed to this day and don't suffer from this condition.

I know that these are BIG desicions, but dont go for the surgery, if you read in the Scoliosis support group board there are alot of people complaining of chronic pain and discomfort even years after the surgery.

And like i said, what happen to me seems unbelievable because many people have told ur lieing until i proved it to them, and Like i said this is a licensed and and procedures are Legal.

Please call me or pass my info to your Nieces Parents. This Doctor isn't an amateur either so don't think that, she have done this procedure to multiple patients worldwide. I understand that u still might be skeptacle but do call me

I'll be wating for your call at my cell 951-427-0272

Hello hiirm,
The topic you're watching, "should i wait on the surgery" has a new reply by sincerelycaitt.
Hi Hiirm. (:
I just recently had surgery (last month), and believe me: I did everything I could to postpone it.
But my parents went all for it at the time, because it's better to get it over and done with while your young. Kids and teenagers bounce back so easily, it's amazing.
I would get it done now.
I'm 15 also, and when your niece has a car and all that new freedom, she's going to want to use it.

I suggest talking to different orthopedic doctors, though. Three rods sounds like a bit much. If she does get three rods placed in her spine, I'm sorry to say her mobility is going to be decreased. I do hope everything goes well for you and her.
I can relate with everything, and I'll keep her in my thoughts.

I can't see the point in waiting. The sooner she does it the sooner she will be recovered and able to move on in life. If there is nothing stopping it then why not now? I know it's very scary but she will be in good hands. I'm 4 years on from my surgery...everything went well and I have no problems now. Best of luck.

Hello Hiirm,
I was 9 when my mother relised my spine was curved from a CAT scan. Just a year after we relised that i got an x-ray of my spine and i had a 20 degree curve and my mother and I thought it was nothing to worry about. About a year or two later i got my curve checked again and it curved to 53 degree. Just recently in June i had spinal fusion surgary which my family and i were having second thoughts about but just after the surgary we relised that the decision to hav the surgary was the best decision we ever made. I suggest to you and your neice to have the surgary done as soon as you can to get it over with because once your out of the hospital and at home for about 3 weeks or so you'll feel alot better and you'll want to be doing the stuff you could do befor such as being active and playing sports if thats what you like to do. I wish you the best and i hope eve! rything goes well with your neice.

PS, how do I make myself have a cool title like some people here have?
